Duplex plate 2202, or plate DX2202, is an austenitic-ferritic stainless steel. It offers users general corrosion resistance comparable to that of Type 304L . Some of the other key characteristics of Duplex 2202 include:

Corrosion Resistance

Duplex steel sheets of 2202 are a cost-effective solution for a number of applications where chloride stress corrosion cracking is subject to the 300 series of stainless steels. Stress corrosion cracking occurs when tensile stresses on stainless steels while they are in contact with chloride solutions. Increasing temperatures also increase the susceptibility to stress cracking of stainless steels. The chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen combination convey the good chloride resistance and corrosion rates of 2202. In most environments, the high content of 2202 chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen gives superior resistance to corrosion to common stainless steels, for instance 316L and 317L.Resistance is important in Services such as marine environments, brackish water, bleaching, closed loop water systems and certain food processing applications.
