INCONEL® alloy 617 is a nickel chromium cobalt molybdenum alloy, with an addition of Aluminium, which is designed to have a combination of increased strength and stability at elevated temperature, whilst retaining the high temperature corrosion resistance of INCONEL® alloy 601. The alloy has been widely employed in gas turbine hot gas paths as combustion cans, ducting and liners.

Inconel 617 Seamless Welded Pipe & Tube can be easily fabricated; it can be hot formed up to 2200º F, and cold formed at 1900º F. Inconel 617® also has excellent weldability. Inconel 617 Seamless Welded Pipe & Tube is used for ducting, transition liners in both aircraft and land based gas turbines, and combustion cans.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Inconel 617 can be machined using conventional machining methods which are used for iron-based alloys. Machining operations are performed using commercial coolants. High-speed operations such as grinding, milling or turning, are performed using water-base coolants. Inconel 617 is welded using gas-tungsten arc welding, shielded metal-arc welding, gas metal-arc welding, and submerged-arc welding methods.
