Inconel 718 sheets are known for their excellent impact and tensile strength. Along with this strength, Inconel 718 stands out from other materials in maintaining high weldability. In many alloys, there is a significant tradeoff between strength and welding performance. Inconel 718 sheets provide high levels of both properties, along with resistance to post-weld cracking. In addition to high strength and ductility, this super alloy is used in a wide variety of applications due to the wide range of temperatures it can withstand. Inconel 718 demonstrates reliability in extremely cold and high-heat applications. These properties make Inconel 718 sheets a popular choice for numerous applications.
Inconel 718® sheet is available from .012 - .156" thickness in 36" & 48" wide sheets. Inconel Alloy 718 Sheet is a precipitation-hardenable nickel based alloy. It has good ductility in the annealed condition and exceptionally high yield, tensile and creep rupture properties up to 1300 Degrees F. Alloy 718 Sheet has excellent corrosion resistance at high and low temperatures and good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion. Alloy 718 been successful in hostile environments containing H2S, CO2, chlorides, sulfides and free sulfur at selected temperatures.
Inconel 718 is a precipitation hardenable nickel-based alloy designed to display exceptionally high yield, tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 1300°F (704°C). The age-hardening response of Inconel 718 permits annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling. Nickel Alloy 718 has excellent weldability when compared to the nickel-base super alloys hardened by aluminum and titanium. Nickel Alloy 718 is used in aircraft engine parts and high-speed airframe parts such as wheels, buckets, spacers, and high temperature bolts and fasteners.

Inconel 718 can be machined using conventional machining methods which are used for iron-based alloys. Machining operations are performed using commercial coolants. High-speed operations such as grinding, milling or turning, are performed using water-base coolants. Inconel 718 is welded using gas-tungsten arc welding, shielded metal-arc welding, gas metal-arc welding, and submerged-arc welding methods.
